Seachem Renew Filter Media

Renew™ is an advanced filtration media designed to address the challenges posed by phosphate release from traditional activated carbons. Unlike conventional carbon, Renew™ is less aggressive, making it an excellent choice for sensitive environments such as reef tanks and planted aquaria. Its unique formulation is particularly beneficial in soft water systems where the pH-raising effects of many carbons can be detrimental.

Capable of removing organics and particulates down to the sub-micron level, Renew™ effectively helps control ammonia, nitrates, and phosphates, contributing to a healthier and clearer aquatic environment. Its performance and longevity are comparable to activated carbon, typically lasting between 4 to 6 weeks under normal use.

For optimal results, Renew™ should be used in the same manner as activated carbon—placed inside a filter bag and rinsed before use to ensure cleanliness. A general guideline is to use approximately 250 mL of Renew™ for every 120–160 liters (30–40 gallons) of aquarium water.
