Description: The Auriga Butterfly can be found in the Indo-Pacific, Japan, Hawaii, and the Red Sea. They have a white body with a gray diagonal striping pattern, along with vibrant yellow coloration on the dorsal and caudal fins in the posterior region. This fish also has a vertical black stripe running through its eye and a false eye-spot on the dorsal fin to confuse predators. This fish is one of the best "all-around" butterflyfish for a fish-only marine community aquarium. They are hardier than other butterfly species and can be recommended to both expert and beginner aquarists. If you wish to keep more than one, introduce both fish to the aquarium at the same time. They can be nippy towards polyps of desirable corals or anemones. Provide plenty of swimming room and hiding spots for this fish.
